- The establishment and maintenance of a senior standard international piano competition.
- Provision of an education path for developing musicians.
- Provision of an event that provides an opportunity for Australian pianists to train for, and aspire to the international concert stage through contact with, and exposure to international performers and jury members.
- To bring to the Southern Highlands region an event of world class standard.
- To promote Australian composition by the inclusion of an Australian work to be performed by Australian competitors.
- To provide ready access to this event for the local population and in those areas surrounding the Southern Highlands.
- To promote and support young classical pianists as a major component in the overall development of senior students and aspiring concert artists.
