DR CARLOS ALVARADO - PRINCIPAL CONDUCTOR
Wollongong Symphony Orchestra

Dr Alvarado has a Doctorate in Orchestra and Opera Conducting from the Tchaikovsky Conservatorium of Music in Moscow where he studied under Gennady Rozhdestvensky.  He has also a Master of Fine Arts in Choir Conducting.

In the last ten years Dr Alvarado has been successful in many international conducting competitions.  He has toured as a conductor in Russia, Spain, Italy, Brazil, Germany and Colombia where he recorded for National Radio and Television as well as conducting the Colombian Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphonic Band and the Symphonic Orchestra del Valle.

Dr Alvarado has also conducted the Bach Collegium Orchestra and the Gachinnger Kantoire Choir in Stuttgart, Moscow and Santiago de Compostela (Spain).  In Moscow he also conducted the Ruiskaya Cappella Orchestra and the Opera Studio Symphony Orchestra.

Dr Alvarado has been the conductor of the Wollongong Symphony Orchestra since its inaugural concert in October 2004.
