Repertoire


 

PRELIMINARY STAGE
The following repertoire:

   
1 one prelude by Debussy or one nocturne by Chopin, and
2 the first movement of a sonata by Haydn or Mozart or Beethoven, and
3 a composition from the competitor’s country of birth or residence of approximately 5 minutes duration. A movement from a Sonata is acceptable, and
4 two etudes by Chopin, and
5 one etude by Liszt or Rachmaninoff or Scriabin.
   
SEMI-FINAL STAGE
  A recital programme of the competitor’s choice (approximately forty to fifty minutes). At least one major work from the Romantic Period must be included in the programme. Works by Rachmaninoff will be accepted as being representative of the Romantic Period.
   

FINAL STAGE
One of the following concertos:

   
1 Mozart Concerto in C major, K 467
2 Mozart Concerto in A major, K 488
3 Beethoven Concerto No. 3 in C minor, Op 37
4 Beethoven Concerto No. 5 in E fl at major, Op 50
5 Liszt Concerto No. 1 in E fl at major
6 Chopin Concerto No. 2 in F minor, Op 21
7 Tchaikovsky Concerto No. 1 in B fl at major, Op 23
8 Grieg Concerto in A minor, Op 16
9 Saint-Sans Concerto No. 2 in G minor, Op 22
10 Rachmaninoff Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, Op 43
11 Rachmaninoff Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Op 18
12 Khachaturian Concerto in D Flat major
